Returning to my blog in 2026

Hello readers, it’s been a while since I’ve post a blog post on here but with the Enshittification of social media, it seems as good a time as any to return to my lovely blog where I started sharing my work in 2016, a whole decade ago.

Eurasian oystercatcher Haematopus ostralegus
She’s an oystercatcher, you’re welcome.

I will of course still be using my Instagram and Facebook to post my work and chat to people still, but it feels nice using my own website.

So what are my arty plans this year?

As usual I’m jumping into the new year with a pile of half finished projects and a load of new ideas I’m itching to work on.

Hooded Vulture

I’ve been wanting to create some work raising awareness on vulture conservation. Vultures are being made extinct quicker than any other animal in the world for various reasons including intentional poisoning by poachers, loss of habitat, power lines and use in medicines.

Palm-nut vulture

It’s a project that I’m excited to work on and have researched a lot but haven’t found a format for which I’m happy to work in yet. I’m playing with creating a loose tarot deck as there are 23 species of vultures that would fit nicely as a major arcana alongside an educational book, but I’m not certain yet how this will work or how I’d show this.

Goldcrest, smallest bird in the UK

I’ve also been toying with tiny birds for my 2026 bird zine, because why not?

I’m sure my meandering blog posts have been missed, hopefully there’s many more to follow this year!

Congratulations you reached the end of the blog post, your reward is ye contact with Mr Moo.

  1. Lovely stuff Katie, love the illustration of the two Goldcrest birds, that would make perfect print for hanging on a wall, bigger the better.
